Famous Guitar Duo Perform at ESCC, Student Workshop Held
FAMOUS GUITAR DUO PERFORM AT ESCC;
MUSIC INDUSTRY WORKSHOP HELD WITH FINE ART STUDENTS
March 20, 2013 Enterprise, AL – Guitarists Frank Vignola and Vinny Raniolo performed Tuesday evening at Enterprise State Community College. The following morning, the duo held a special workshop for ESCC Fine Art students that included a jam session, question-and-answer session, as well as advice for making it in the music industry.
“I have three pieces of advice,” said Vignola. “First is to work hard on your craft. Hard work and dedication are key. Secondly, always keep it professional. Lastly, be nice to everyone. It doesn’t cost any more money to be kind, even to people you don’t like. The worst thing that can happen in the industry is to have bad things said about you.”
Raniolo considers his performances with Vignola as his main gig; however, when home in New York City he performs nightly in the Manhattan and the New England area.
“I love to have a guitar in my hands,” said Raniolo. “However, the traveling and meeting new people really helps you grow as a person. ”
Raniolo and Vignola have played with many famous performers. Vignola has recorded with Madonna as well as with Ringo Starr, Paul McCartney, and Les Paul.
Vignola and Raniolo encouraged students to learn as many songs as possible and be well-versed in all genres of music making themselves marketable in many different settings.
“There is more opportunity in the music business now, because people love live entertainment,” said Vignola. “Have a social media and web presence. Make sure your YouTube has plenty of live videos in order to expose your music. This platform will show potential employers that you can bring in a paying customer.”
