ESCC ADMINISTRATOR SELECTED BY CHANCELLOR FOR BEST PRACTICES TEAM
August 21, 2013, Enterprise, Ala. – Dean of Students Jeffrey H. Coats, Ed.D, at Enterprise State Community College, has been appointed by Chancellor Mark Heinrich, Ph.D., Alabama Community College System, to serve on a statewide Best Practices team. The purpose of this team is to provide the System and its colleges with information about successes at our colleges and provide ideas for new projects and improve existing practices.
"I am honored to have the opportunity to serve the Chancellor and the System in this capacity,” says Coats. “I feel that our System has a lot of best practices and programs that can be shared among Alabama's community colleges. This team's charge will further enhance the positive impact the Alabama Community College System makes on the daily lives of Alabamians.”
The Chancellor appointed ten college employees from community colleges across the state.The team will study the best practices at Northeast Community College in Rainsville, Ala. Coats was appointed for his expertise and leadership in Student Services and higher education administration.
“I am proud Dr. Coats was selected to serve on the Best Practices team for his expertise in Student Services,” says Nancy W. Chandler, president of Enterprise State Community College.“Dr. Coats will be an asset, and I look forward to the great ideas he can bring back to Enterprise State Community College.”
Coats' responsibilities at Enterprise State Community College consist of oversight and direction for admissions, registration, student records, counseling, student discipline, scholarships, student activities, security, club and student organization, transportation, athletics, Trio programs, marketing and media relations, counseling services, and also oversight of facilities and maintenance of all seven campuses and sites located throughout the state of Alabama.
Prior to his work at Enterprise State Community College, Coats was Associate Dean of Students at Bowling Green State University in Ohio and worked as an administrator in several capacities at Auburn University. He is also a graduate of the Alabama Community College System institution.
