Enterprise State Community College to hold annual math tournament for secondary schools

Last year's individual winners from Division I of the Advanced Math portion of Enterprise State Community College's annual math competition receive their trophies. Enterprise, Ala., Feb. 4, 2014– Enterprise State Community College (ESCC) will hold its annual math tournament for secondary school students, Friday, Feb. 28 on the Enterprise Campus.  All secondary schools are invited to attend.

“The ESCC math division began hosting this tournament more than 30 years ago because we believed in the importance of encouraging and rewarding outstanding math students from our local schools,” says Kathy Haynes, math department chair.  “The enthusiasm shown by the students and sponsors throughout the tournament and the opportunity to show the students what we have to offer at ESCC make this a successful annual event.” 

Lunch and activities will be provided on campus, free of charge, to all student participants and sponsors.Trophies and ribbons will be awarded for students placing in one of the tests in algebra I, geometry, algebra II, and advanced math.  Team awards will be presented to students in the large school and private schools division and the small schools division.  The registration deadline is Feb. 17, 2014.
