ALABAMA STATE TREASURER KEYNOTE SPEAKER AT ESCC GRADUATION
Enterprise, AL May 11, 2012– Enterprise State Community College held Commencement Ceremonies on the ESCC campus Under the Oaks on Thursday evening, May 10, 2012. ESCC conferred degrees and certificates on more than 195 students who met eligibility requirements for completion. The ceremony included Enterprise campus, Ft. Rucker site, and Alabama Aviation Center at Ozark campus.
Young Boozer, Alabama State Treasurer, delivered the keynote address.
Young J. Boozer, III was born in Birmingham and raised in Tuscaloosa. He earned a bachelor’s degree in economics from Stanford University and a master’s degree in financefrom theWharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
During the past four decades, Boozer’s career in banking, financeand investments has taken him from Citibank in New York and Crocker National Bank in Los Angeles, to Coral Petroleum in Houston, and Colonial Bank in Montgomery.
Boozer also served as Deputy State Finance Director for Governor Bob Riley after retiring in 2007 from his position as ExecutiveVice President at Colonial Bank. During his tenure in the Alabama Department of Finance, he played a key role in saving millions of taxpayer dollars through the restructuring of state bond debt and derivatives. Boozer left the Riley Administration in early 2010 to run for StateTreasurer in his firstrace for elected office.
He is a member of and has held leadership roles in several organizations, including the Church of the Ascension in Montgomery, the Montgomery Rotary Club, the Alabama Shakespeare Festival, the Boy Scouts of America, and Stanford University.
