AAC Mobile Holds Commencement
Mobile, AL May 11, 2012– Alabama Aviation Center at Mobile, a unit of Enterprise Community College, held Commencement Ceremonies at the Yvonne Kennedy Auditorium at Bishop State Friday evening, May 11, 2012. ESCC conferred degrees and certificates on more than 25 students who met eligibility requirements for completion of Airframe Technology, Powerplant Technology, and Avionics.
A coin ceremony was a part of commencement exercises which is a symbol that acknowledges the accomplishments of students. It also serves as reminder to maintain high standards throughout their careers and the lifelong commitment made to them as a member of the Alabama Aviation Center family. Students receiving the Alabama Aviation Center coins must have completed all of the College’s requirements, completed the Federal Aviation Administration’s (FAA) testing, and received their FAA Airframe and Powerplant licenses.
The Honorable Ella Bell joined the ceremonies as keynote speaker.
Ella Bell currently serves on the Alabama State Board of Education representing District 5. She has been a member of the Board since 2001. Mrs. Bell received her bachelor’s degree from Tuskegee University and her master’s degree in Education Supervision from Alabama State University. Currently, she serves on the Montgomery Area United Way Board, the Trinity Lutheran Church Board of Stewardship, and the Chamber of Commerce National Government Committee. She is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority; SISTAS Inc., a support group for women surviving breast cancer; and the Tuskegee University Alumni Association. Bell is the former director ofthe Dropout Prevention Center at Alabama State University.
The University of Mobile Sinfonians and Symphonic Winds performed ceremonial accompaniment for the exercises.
