POSITION: Medical Assisting Technology Adjunct

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor’s degree with an Associate’s degree or Associate in Applied Science degree in Medical Assisting or Nursing with at least twenty-seven (27) semester hours in-field from a regionally accredited institution is required.
OR
• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing with at least twenty-seven (27) semester hours in-field from a regionally accredited institution is required.
OR
• Associate’s degree or Associate in Applied Science degree in Medical Assisting or Nursing with at least twenty-seven (27) semester hours in-field from a regionally accredited institution is required. Note: One hired without a bachelor’s degree would be required to earn a bachelor’s degree within three (3) years of employment.

• Current AAMA credentialing as a Certified Medical Assistant OR an unencumbered Alabama Board of Nursing license as a Registered Nurse is required.
• Three years’ experience as a medical assistant or nurse in a medical or clinical office practice is required.
• Bachelor’s degree or higher is preferred.
• Experience incorporating multi-media instructional techniques into a curricula including instructional technology for web-based teaching and course management utilizing the Canvas platform is preferred.
• Experience with diverse student populations is preferred.

POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the supervision of the division director, program director, associate dean, and/or Dean, Instructional Affairs, the Instructor teaches students according to established policies and procedures to provide competent and effective classroom and laboratory instruction at varied times and places based on student demand.

POSITION AVAILABLE: Available positions are contingent upon enrollment and the instructional needs of the College. Enterprise State Community College accepts applications for Adjunct Instructors on a continuous basis to fill morning, afternoon, evening or weekend needs at all College locations to include dual enrollment at area high schools. However, it does not necessarily imply there are immediate openings.

TERM LENGTH: Fall/Spring Semester – approximately 15 weeks. Summer Semester – approximately 10 weeks

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Teach face-to-face courses, during the scheduled meeting times, in areas of Medical Assisting Technology.
• Prepare syllabi and instructional materials, deliver instruction, and evaluate and record student progress in relation to achieving the objectives and learning outcomes of assigned courses.
• Adhere to times scheduled for class sessions.
• Employ appropriate effectives teaching the objectives and learning outcomes of assigned courses.
• Prepare, maintain, and submit accurate student and class records in accordance with College policies and procedures.
• Work cooperatively with others to plan and accomplish goals of the College.
• Assign outside learning experiences to students that reinforce classroom instruction.
• Evaluate inventory of instructional materials and equipment and advise Division Chair and College administration on related needs.
• Maintain licensures and certifications as required.
• Maintain program certifications/accreditations as required
• Comply with College and Division policies and procedures.
• Support college mission, including the institution’s commitment to providing opportunities to students without regard to race, sex, age, income, religion, disability, or occupation.
• Perform other duties assigned by the Division Chair, Dean of Instruction, and/or the College President.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
• Ability to work flexible hours as needed.
• Communicate in a professional, effective and pleasant manner with students, college employees and the general public.

SALARY:
THEORY – $500.76 per credit hour (example: $1502.28 for 3 credit hour course).

• Current AAMA credentialing as a Certified Medical Assistant OR an unencumbered Alabama Board of Nursing license as a Registered Nurse is required.
• Verification of experience to equal the required years for the position included above.
(Verification of experience should be on company letterhead or form and include the applicants name, title, dates of employment, and duties and responsibilities while employed. All letters must be dated and include an original signature of authorized personnel. If an employment verification cannot be obtained due to a legitimate reason, an applicant may submit copies of other trustworthy documentation such as appointment letters, contracts, pay stubs, or W-2 forms documenting the term of employment)

Employment is contingent upon employer verification of work experience. Only applicants who meet the required qualifications and submit a complete application packet by the deadline will be considered. Applications submitted by fax, email, mail, or hand delivery will NOT be accepted.

In accordance with Alabama Community College System policy and guidelines, the applicant chosen for employment will be required to sign a consent form for a criminal background check. Employment will be contingent upon receipt of a clearance notification from a criminal background check. The candidate hired will be responsible for the nonrefundable minimum cost of $17.40 for the criminal background investigation. Additional charges may apply.
