Aviation Instructor or Substitute Pool – Part-Time


Specialized course work equivalent to the junior or technical college program. Significant basic electronics teaching experience in lieu of aviation experience will be considered.

Aviation Maintenance Technology

  1. Associate’s degree or equivalent (at least 60 semester hours in a planned program, including associate degree core).
  2. Six years of full time work experience in aviation maintenance and repair.
  3. FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) mechanic certification.

Avionics Technology

  1. Associate’s degree or equivalent (at least 60 semester hours in a planned program, including associate degree core).
  2. Six years of full time work experience in avionics or closely related field.
  3. FCC General Radiotelephone certificate or able to obtain certificate within one year of employment.


Courses are available Monday thru Friday at a variety of times, during the day and evening, on our campuses and site locations.

Term Length

Fall/Spring Semester – approximately 15 weeks.
Summer Semester – approximately 10 weeks.


Aviation Adjunct Instructor (part-time)

$481.50 per theory hour. $960.00 per lab hour. Example: 3 theory, 2 lab course (3:1 lab) = $3364.50

Substitute Instructor (part-time)

$23.54 per contact hour. Compensation arrangements for substitute instructors may vary depending on the duration of the instructional assignment and the instructional division (academic or technical) within the College. Appropriate compensation arrangements for substitute instructors will be determined by the College.

  • A cover letter stating the subject you wish to teach, days and times available, and campus or campuses where you’d like to teach (Albertville, Andalusia, Mobile, or Ozark).

  • A current resume.
  • A copy of transcript(s) verifying degree. Copies of certification and/or license. Verification of 6 years of full time work experience (AMT/AMP) or verification of 3 years of full time work experience. If hired, official transcripts from all institutions are required.
  • A copy of FAA Airframe and Powerplant certification (AMT/AMP) and/or copy of FCC General Radiotelephone certificate.

Upon receipt of all items listed above, your file will be evaluated. The Director of Aviation Center, Ozark Campus, will serve as your point of contact and will notify you as positions become available.

Only applicants who meet the required qualifications and submit a complete application packet by the deadline will be considered. Applications submitted by fax or email will not be accepted. From applications received, a search committee will review applications, interview eligible applicants, and select candidates for further consideration by the President. Interviews will be by appointment only. Applicants must travel at their own expense. Candidates selected for an interview must demonstrate proficiency in written English and skills assessment may be included as part of the interview process. All applications become the property of ESCC. An offer of employment is contingent upon a satisfactory criminal background investigation. In the event a conviction for a felony or any crime involving moral turpitude is found, the procedures set out in the guidelines for State Board Policy 623.01 will be followed. The candidate hired will be responsible for the nonrefundable minimum cost of $17.40 for the criminal background investigation. Additional charges may apply. ESCC participates in E-Verify.
