 What is Upward Bound?
Upward Bound is a federally funded program designed to motivate and generate the skills in qualified participants, which will enable them to achieve their goals of graduating from high school and pursuing and completing a postsecondary education.
Who is eligible to participate?
To be considered for Upward Bound the student must:
- Be enrolled in one of the four service-area schools and in 9th, 10th, or 11th grade.
- Have recommendations from teachers and counselors, show potential for academic and personal success and demonstrate a need for academic enrichment/support to successfully complete high school and postsecondary education.
- Meet specific income criteria established by the Department of Education or be a potential first-generation college student (neither parent has a four-year college degree).
- Are citizens/nationals and permanent residents of the United States.

 What does Upward Bound cost?
There is NO CHARGE to participate in the Upward Bound Program. Eligible students need only invest TIME, INTEREST, and WILLINGNESS to fulfill their maximum potential.
How do I apply?
Applications can be obtained from your school counselor or by calling the Upward Bound office. Qualified students will go through an interview and selection process. Once selected, parents will have a conference with the Director. Selected students will be notified in writing following the interview.
